Sloping down from Hockley road to the Nottawasauga River, most of this property remains undeveloped, with trails to lead you through the diverse woods, including maples, cedars, birch and many species of wildflowers. The trail along the river is particularly appealing. In the spring, rainbow trout spawn in the gravel beds just 100 yds from the house. In the fall you may see the large salmon as they too make their journey up the river to spawn. Look for square holes in cedar trees, made by the pileated woodpecker.

You may see several other woodpeckers, cardinals, blue jays, chickadees, and a wide number of finches visiting our birdfeeders. Rose breasted grosbeaks, blue indigos and a number of other seasonal visitors also appear while on their migrations.

Local fauna that visit us include deer, wild turkey, and a wide array of racoons, squirrels, rabbits and chipmunks.

In season, you can find wild flora such as red trilliums, lady slipper orchids, jack in the pulpit, ostrich and many other varieties of ferns.
